About 3CT

3ct formed in 1992 as The 3 Chinese Tenors. The company has since become highly sought after for its ability to create dynamic and inspiring works of the highest calibre.

Hao Zhou, Director of 3ct came to Australia from China to follow his dream to be trained by Dame Joan Sutherland and Maestro Richard Bonynge and sing in the Sydney Opera House.

Hao’s dream became realised when he was discovered singing opera in the Victoria Arts Centre kitchen.

Melbourne’s media promptly coined Hao the ‘kitchen Caruso’ and he was invited to study opera at the Australian National Vocal Symposium under the tutelage of Dame Joan Sutherland. As a follow on Hao performed a series of concerts with Maestro Richard Bonynge.

Hao’s operatic career with the Australian Opera and Victorian State Opera spanned over ten years with lead roles in: Lindoro in L’italiana in Algeri, Count Almaviva in Il Barbieri di Siviglia, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Leicester in Maria Stuarda, Brighella in Ariadne Auf Naxos, Tonio in La Fille du Regiment, Pylade in Iphigenie en Tauride and Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola.

Hao has performed for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, the Australian Pops Orchestra, Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra and a series of concerts with Canberra Symphony Orchestra and the Sydney Opera House Symphony Orchestra.

In 1993 Hao’s produced The 3 Chinese Tenors as part of Sydney’s bid for the 2000 Olympics to a crowd of 250,000 people. From this point forward Hao’s role within the company expanded to designing and touring international performers.
